The Proposal for the Strategic Development of a Startup Operating in the Field of Online Media on the Czech Market

The thesis deals with the proposal of a strategy of a start-up operating in the field of online media on the Czech market. The first part of the thesis explains to the general concepts related to strategic management, selected analyses of the external and internal environment of the company. The analytical part of the thesis is devoted to the application of selected methods, identification of the external and internal environment of the startup and situational assessment. The findings from the analytical part of the thesis are then used to develop an appropriate strategy proposal that leads to increased sales and the creation of a stronger community of loyal customers.
Housing situation in 2023 from the perspective of selected Czech online media

This thesis focuses on the media coverage of the housing situation in the Czech Republic in 2023. The thesis aims to shed light on how selected Czech online media reflect the changing housing situation in the Czech Republic in 2023. In the theoretical part, the thesis focuses on the Czech housing situation, including the factors that shape it and their influence on the current housing situation. This section also presents the concept of housing policy of the Czech Republic, which directs the housing situation, and briefly introduces the housing fund of the Czech Republic. The theoretical part also introduces the role of mass media in the context of the housing situation and presents the theoretical concepts of setting the media agenda and framing media content. The methodological part presents a qualitative research method of reflexive thematic analysis and an inductive approach to identifying specific frames. The analytical section presents the research results in the form of 5 dominant themes and 3 key actors resonating in the analzysed media messages. The diploma thesis entitled "Brand strategy on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, focusing on available social media advertising opportunities Q3-Q4 2022" addresses the expansion of communication options caused by the arrival of so-called new media. The work then focuses in detail on communication on the social networks Facebook, Instagram and TikTok and their use for the advertisement. The theoretical part of the work provides a comprehensive view of selected platforms, their environment, trends and an overview of terms necessary for basic understanding and strategic work. In addition, it provides cross-sectional work with basic advertising formats that can be used for advertisement and also description of the environment of the advertising tools Meta Ads Manager and TikTok Ads Manager. The diploma thesis discusses in detail specifically the work with Meta Ads Manager, which is a tool used for running experiments in the practical part. Visual representation of the climate change in online news

The thesis focuses on journalistic photography in news articles about climate change. In the theoretical part it anchors concepts such as the effects of climate change and its impact on society, explains the workings of stereotypes and solution journalism. It also focuses on fixing the definition of environmental photography and describes the workings of newsrooms, gatekeeping and agenda setting. It will then use a form of mixed quantitative and qualitative research to answer the research question of what photographs are selected for articles about climate change around the world. In the quantitative part, it will use content analysis to map three hundred photographs from three Czech media outlets, A2larm.cz, Novinky.cz and Seznazpravy.cz. The thesis will explore the hypotheses that visually impressive photography will have more space regardless of the weight of the topic, and that stereotypical methods of sampling will predominate when using illustrative images. The qualitative part will answer the research question through three semi-structured interviews and then form a conclusion in the form of an grounded theory. The reflection of athletes in Czech online media during the Summer Olympic Games in Tokio 2020 and Rio de Janeiro 2016

The main aim of the thesis is to analyse the portrayal of athletes during the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020 and Rio de Janeiro 2016 on two Czech news websites. In the theoretical part, the theoretical background, which is crucial for understanding the topic under study, is introduced. This includes, for example, the differences between public and tabloid sports media. Furthermore, the specific differences in the reporting of women and men in sport are presented, which has been greatly helped by the results of research already conducted. Last but not least, the history of women in international competitions, especially in the Olympic Games, was mapped. In the methodological section, the aim, sub-tasks and main research question of the thesis are described in more detail. It also outlines the research file and the method of data collection. The hypotheses and research question of the thesis are also elaborated, as well as the quantitative variables and qualitative indicators. Ethical aspects of personalized content in selected online media

The thesis is focused on personalized content recommendation in Czech online news media and the ethical issues related to its implementation. The subject of the qualitative analysis are semi- structured interviews with representatives of two Czech media houses. The research sample includes respondents from Seznam Zprávy and Seznam, and from E15 and Czech News Center. The interviewees included representatives of newsrooms as well as media and product management. The aim of the study was to find out to what extent they use personalised content recommendation tools, to outline the reasons why they have decided to take this step or are considering it. It turned out that within the studied online news media they are still using personalised content recommendation to a minimum, or they are testing or planning to introduce these tools to a greater extent. Personalised recommendation tools are more widely used on the homepage of Seznam. The subject of this thesis was also to identify ethical issues related to the introduction or use of personalised recommendation. The main areas, according to the respondents' statements, include issues of setting selection parameters, the ability to retain agenda setting by editors, automation and transparency.
Public ethics in the context of online communication

The diploma thesis studies the basic concepts of communication in the context of the online environment and seeks whether there are ethical starting points for users participating in content creation on the Internet (produsers). It deals with the meaning of communication and dialogue, the understanding of what is public and what the mass means, describes the online environment and the media sphere and places it in an ethical framework in which it characterizes the concept of person and explores the essence of the concept of praxis. In view of the basic question of the thesis, general ethical principles and the essence of journalistic and media ethics are also presented, because it was journalism that gave rise to the content creators from among the public even before the Internet. Since the subject of research is the active public on the Internet, the work deals also with the basic human right to freedom of expression and related regulatory legislation. The news media's framing of the war ultimately has an impact on how its audience views the actions of the conflicting countries, their respective allies as well as other issues pertaining to the conflict. The online news media, due to its relatively easy and broad access, plays a key role in how the war is covered and framed. This study compares how major news websites in Ukraine, Russia, the U.S. and China have framed their coverage of the Russia-Ukraine conflict between from December 2021 when Russia began to amass troops on its border with Ukraine, and the end of April 2022, when the war was still raging in Ukraine. Media and its impact on secondary victimization and victim blaming of the victims of sexual violence and harassment

This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of the news media and the way they cover the acts of sexual violence and harassment and its victims. The aim is to describe how Czech media contribute to the secondary victimization of the victims and to so-called victim blaming, which is an accusation that the victim is to blame for the act committed. The theoretical part explains the context and concepts related to crime victims, which are important for understanding the practical part. It defines sexual violence, explains the term victimization and the types of victimization, as well as the phenomenon of victim blaming and rape culture, whose existence is often supported by the news media. The thesis is also devoted to media framing and journalistic ethics regarding the coverage of crimes and crime victims. In the practical part, the thesis explores articles published from January to April 2022 in selected Czech online media - both serious and tabloid - in which the media refer to the victims of sexual violence and harassment. It observes how the media informed the public about the victims and how it contributed to the secondary victimization and victim blaming by using certain controversial words and phrases.
